Montreal Irish Monument Park Foundation
The Board of Directors of the Montreal Irish Monument Park Foundation invite you to follow our progress as we plan the building of a beautiful world-class memorial space to remember the 6000+ Irish emigrants that died and were buried around the Black Rock in 1847 during the Irish Famine. We also plan to honour the many Montrealers that went to provide these victims with help and comfort. Many of these caregivers after contracting Typhus from the victims gave their lives in this great Canadian humanitarian effort.
Stay up to date with the project’s progress here as we share important construction updates, thank generous donors and partners, and announce upcomming events.

Our partners at the Emigrant Support Program and Irish Embassy to Canada have collaborated with St. Michael’s College in Toronto to shed light on the remarkable role of First Nations in Canada giving aid to Irish famine victims in 1847.
People who had no reason to help and were suffering and persecuted themselves decided to contribute to famine relief in a settler’s homeland. Their willingness to help is a credit to their culture of communal welfare and integrity. Watch this video to learn more.
